BIO

Shay Blechynden is a landscape photographer and artist from San Diego, California. Equally inspired by mountain and sea, person and place, Shay constantly seeks to capture the magic moments that occur in our periphery each day. Shay is passionate about creating artwork and images that are as pleasing to the eye as they are high quality and technically sound. Shay is proud to have been honored with the "People's Choice Award" at the juried San Diego County Fair Exhibition of Photography in 2017. And the judges awarded him 2nd, 3rd and 4th place awards in the Landscape division.

Shay is also a Class A PGA Golf Teaching Professional with a varied and distinguished career as a player, coach and golf administrator. He was named San Diego PGA Teacher of the Year in 2001 and PGA Assistant Professional of the Year in the Southern California Section PGA, 2010. While still partially active, Shay hung up his full-time golf spikes in 2015 to pursue further photographic and artistic endeavors.

Artist's Statement

I am currently enjoying the challenge of creating and sharing a unique and abstract body of photographic work. My "Circles" are the result of a 10 year journey of transforming photographs into colorful shapes and creations. I like to think of it as a modern day type of 2D origami. I hesitate to call it "Digital Art", as the pieces are not computer generated, the source material is photographic. In addition to the modern photographic art, I am passionate about creating traditional landscape images of beautiful scenes under ideal conditions.
